
Mihály Károlyi
Mihály Károlyi was a Hungarian politician and socialist leader born in 1875. He played a key role in Hungary's political scene during World War I and the immediate post-war period. In 1918, he became Prime Minister and later President, advocating for democratic reforms and independence for Hungary. His leadership coincided with a turbulent time marked by war, revolution, and turmoil, including the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Károlyi's tenure was characterized by efforts to establish a democratic government, but he faced significant challenges, including internal unrest and economic hardship, which eventually led to his resignation in 1919.
