Migration is when people move from one place to another, either within a country or between countries. Refugees are those fleeing danger or persecution. Immigration is arriving to settle in a new country, while emigration is leaving one's homeland. A diaspora is a community of people from a common homeland living elsewhere. Human rights are basic freedoms and protections all people deserve. The UNHCR and IOM are organizations helping displaced and migrating people; Amnesty International advocates for human rights. NGOs are non-government groups working on these issues. Migrant workers move temporarily for work. Social integration and cultural identity involve fitting into new societies while maintaining their cultural roots.
