MiFID I
MiFID I (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive I) is a European regulation introduced in 2007 to improve transparency, protect investors, and create a unified financial market across Europe. It set rules for how financial firms operate, ensure fair treatment of clients, and promote competition. MiFID I required firms to disclose costs and risks clearly, manage conflicts of interest, and operate with increased oversight. Its goal was to make financial markets more transparent, efficient, and trustworthy for investors and ensure firms act in their clients’ best interests across participating countries.
