Midterm Elections

Midterm elections are held in the United States halfway through a president's four-year term, typically on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. During these elections, voters choose members of Congress, including all 435 Representatives and about one-third of the 100 Senators. Midterms also often include state and local offices, as well as ballot measures. These elections are crucial as they can shift the balance of power in Congress, influencing the effectiveness of the president’s agenda and policies. Voter turnout can vary significantly compared to presidential elections, often resulting in different political landscapes.
