Middle Egyptian

Middle Egyptian is a historical stage of the Egyptian language used during the Middle Kingdom (around 2050–1650 BCE). It is considered the classical form of ancient Egyptian and was the language of many important texts, including religious writings, literature, and official inscriptions. Written using hieroglyphs, it served as the standard literary and ceremonial language for centuries. Today, scholars study Middle Egyptian to better understand ancient Egyptian culture, religion, and history, as it forms the foundation for understanding later stages of the language and the civilization’s rich literary tradition.
