Mid-latitude Cyclones

Mid-latitude cyclones are large, organized weather systems that form between 30 and 60 degrees latitude, typically bringing changing weather conditions. They develop along a clash between warm and cold air masses, creating a low-pressure area that spins counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere. These cyclones often bring cloudiness, rain or snow, and strong winds as they move across regions. They are responsible for much of the weather variability in temperate zones and usually last several days, influencing daily weather patterns significantly.
