Microphthalmia
Microphthalmia is a condition where one or both eyes are abnormally small. It occurs during fetal development when the eye doesn't grow properly. This can vary from mild to severe, sometimes involving the entire eye being tiny or only part of it being underdeveloped. People with microphthalmia may experience vision problems or blindness, depending on the severity. The condition can be present at birth or develop later and may occur on its own or with other medical issues. Treatment options depend on the extent of the condition and may include surgery or visual aids to improve quality of life.
