Michael I Rangabe
Michael I Rangabe was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 811 to 813. He was initially a high-ranking military officer and the son-in-law of Emperor Nikephoros I. His reign was marked by efforts to defend the empire against external threats, but he faced significant challenges, including military defeats and internal unrest. Due to these difficulties, his rule was short-lived, and he was forced to abdicate after just a few years. After stepping down, he was granted a life of relative obscurity, and his reign is often viewed as a period of instability in Byzantine history.
