MIBG therapy

MIBG therapy is a targeted treatment for certain types of neuroendocrine tumors, such as neuroblastoma. It involves using a special molecule called MIBG that resembles substances naturally taken up by cancer cells. This molecule is linked to a radioactive element, usually iodine-131, which delivers radiation directly to the tumor, helping to destroy it while sparing most of the surrounding healthy tissue. Administered through an infusion, MIBG therapy can be effective in shrinking tumors and relieving symptoms, often used when other treatments haven’t been successful.
