MeyGen

MeyGen is a project that harnesses tidal energy from the Sound of Barra in Scotland to generate electricity. It uses underwater turbines positioned on the seabed, which are turned by the movement of ocean tides. As the tide rises and falls, these turbines spin, converting the flow of water into electrical power. This form of renewable energy is predictable and environmentally friendly, providing a consistent source of clean electricity. MeyGen aims to contribute to Scotland's renewable energy goals and reduce reliance on fossil fuels by tapping into the natural, rhythmic motion of the tides.
