Metrication Board
The Metrication Board was a UK government organization established in 1969 to oversee the transition from imperial units (such as pounds and miles) to metric units (such as kilograms and kilometers). Its goal was to promote the use of the metric system across trade, industry, and everyday life to ensure consistency and facilitate international standards. The Board coordinated policies, provided guidance, and managed the gradual implementation of metric measures. It was eventually disbanded in 1980, with some aspects of metrication continuing under other government departments.
