Metrical verse
Metrical verse is poetry that follows a specific pattern of beats or stresses in each line, creating rhythm and musicality. This pattern, called meter, involves arranging syllables into units called feet, each with a set number of stressed and unstressed syllables. For example, iambic pentameter has five feet per line, each foot with an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one. Metrical verse helps give poetry a structured, musical quality, guiding how it’s read or performed. It’s a traditional technique used in many poetic forms to add rhythm, emphasis, and harmony to the language.
