Metatarsal Osteotomy

A metatarsal osteotomy is a surgical procedure that involves cutting and realigning one of the long bones in the foot called the metatarsal. This is usually done to correct deformities like bunions or to relieve pain caused by abnormal pressure on the joint. The surgeon makes a controlled cut in the bone, shifts it to a more balanced position, and then stabilizes it with pins, screws, or plates. The goal is to restore proper foot alignment, improve function, and reduce discomfort, often allowing for better walking and shoe fit post-recovery.
