Metanormative theories
Metanormative theories explore how moral standards and judgments themselves are justified and understood, rather than focusing on what those standards are. They examine questions like: What makes moral claims meaningful? Are moral principles based on facts, or are they expressions of emotions or social agreements? In essence, metanormative theories analyze the nature and logic of moral language and reasoning, providing a deeper understanding of how we discuss, justify, and evaluate moral claims.
