Metallic glasses

Metallic glasses are a type of metal that lacks a regular, crystalline structure, making them amorphous like glass. Unlike traditional metals with ordered atoms, metallic glasses have a random atomic arrangement, which gives them unique properties such as high strength, hardness, and resistance to wear and corrosion. They are produced by rapidly cooling molten metal to prevent atoms from forming a crystalline pattern. This amorphous structure allows metallic glasses to combine the strength of metals with the elastic properties of glass, making them useful in applications like sporting equipment, electronics, and medical devices.
