Meta-materials
Meta-materials are specially engineered substances designed to control waves such as light, sound, or electromagnetic signals in ways not possible with natural materials. By arranging standard materials like metals and plastics in precise patterns at small scales, they gain unique properties—such as bending light backwards or making objects invisible—that do not occur naturally. These innovations enable advanced technologies like superlenses, improved antennas, and cloaking devices. Essentially, meta-materials are custom-designed, often nanostructured materials that manipulate wave behavior to unlock new capabilities in imaging, communication, and sensing applications.
