mesotrophic
Mesotrophic refers to a state of a body of water, such as a lake or pond, that has a moderate level of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. This nutrient level supports the growth of aquatic plants and algae but not excessively. As a result, mesotrophic waters typically have clear water with balanced biological activity, providing a healthy environment for fish and other aquatic life. They sit between nutrient-rich (eutrophic) waters, which often suffer from excessive algae and poor oxygen quality, and nutrient-poor (oligotrophic) waters, which are clearer but less productive.
