Mesoamerican calendars
Mesoamerican calendars, notably the Haab and Tzolk'in, were intricate systems used by ancient cultures like the Maya and Aztecs to track time. The Haab is a 365-day solar calendar divided into 18 months of 20 days plus a short month of 5 days, aligning with the solar year. The Tzolk'in is a 260-day ritual calendar with 13 cycles of 20 named days. These calendars interconnected in a cycle called the Calendar Round, lasting about 52 years, which helped with agricultural, religious, and ceremonial planning. Their sophisticated system reflected their understanding of astronomy and time.
