Mesh Complications
Mesh complications refer to problems that can occur after surgical placement of a mesh, typically used to reinforce tissue, such as in hernia repairs. Possible issues include infection, where bacteria cause pain and swelling; mesh rejection, where the body reacts negatively; pain or discomfort; mesh migration, leading to movement or displacement; or erosion, where the mesh wears into nearby tissues. While most cases heal well, these complications can sometimes require additional treatment or surgery. It's important for patients to discuss risks with their healthcare provider and monitor for any unusual symptoms after mesh procedures.
