Mesangial deposition
Mesangial deposition refers to the accumulation of immune system proteins, such as antibodies and immune complexes, in the mesangium—the supportive tissue within the kidneys' filtering units called glomeruli. This buildup can result from immune responses to infections, autoimmune conditions, or other factors, leading to inflammation and potential damage to the kidney's filtering function. Identifying mesangial deposits through kidney biopsies helps diagnose specific glomerular diseases and guides appropriate treatment to prevent further kidney injury.
