Meridian Campaign
The Meridian Campaign was a military operation conducted by the Confederate States during the American Civil War, particularly in late 1864. Its goal was to threaten the Union's supply routes and divert Union forces from other key areas, especially around Atlanta and Nashville. By attacking and disrupting Union supply lines along the Mobile and Ohio Railroad, the Confederates hoped to weaken Union advances and maintain strategic advantages. While it achieved some tactical successes, it ultimately did not change the overall course of the war, which was turning against the Confederacy.
