Mercury vapor lamp

A mercury vapor lamp is a type of lighting that uses electric current to excite mercury vapor inside a glass tube. When energized, the vapor emits bright, intense ultraviolet light, which is then converted into visible light by a phosphor coating inside the tube. These lamps produce a very bright, bluish-white light and are commonly used for outdoor lighting, streetlights, and industrial applications due to their high efficiency and long lifespan. Unlike incandescent bulbs, they generate light through gas excitation rather than heating a filament, making them more energy-efficient for certain uses.
