Mercury missions
Mercury missions were space programs by NASA aimed at exploring Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun. Starting with Project Mercury in the early 1960s, which focused on human spaceflight and understanding human capabilities in space, these missions included the first American astronauts and the first American orbit around Earth. Later, the Mercury spacecraft conducted missions to test space technology, improve understanding of space travel, and gather scientific data. These missions laid the groundwork for future lunar and planetary exploration, advancing our knowledge of space and human spaceflight capabilities.
