Mental state
Mental state refers to our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions—essentially, our internal experiences. In the context of physicalism, which is the belief that everything, including the mind, can be explained in terms of physical processes, mental states are seen as products of brain activity. This means that our emotions and thoughts arise from neural patterns and chemical interactions. While we experience these mental states subjectively, physicalism asserts that they have a basis in the tangible workings of the brain, emphasizing that mind and body are interconnected as part of the same reality.
