Meningitis Symptoms
Meningitis is an infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Common symptoms include a sudden high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to light, and nausea or vomiting. Some people may also experience confusion, drowsiness, or a rash that doesn’t fade when pressed. In infants, symptoms can be less obvious, such as irritability, poor feeding, or a bulging soft spot. Early recognition and treatment are crucial, as meningitis can progress rapidly and cause serious complications. If these symptoms appear suddenly, urgent medical attention is necessary.
