The Memphis Group was an Italian design collective formed in 1981 dedicated to creating bold, innovative, and colorful furniture and accessories. They rejected traditional design rules, embracing bright colors, geometric shapes, and playful forms, reflecting a postmodern approach. Their aim was to make design fun and expressive, breaking away from minimalism and promoting individuality. Operating until 1988, Memphis influenced contemporary interior design with its daring aesthetic, blending art and function to challenge conventional ideas of good taste in home decor and furniture.
