Membrane phospholipid
Membrane phospholipids are essential molecules that make up the structure of cell membranes. They consist of two parts: a hydrophilic (water-attracting) head and two hydrophobic (water-repelling) tails. In the membrane, phospholipids arrange themselves in a bilayer, with the heads facing outward toward water and the tails inward away from water. This arrangement creates a flexible, semi-permeable barrier that protects the cell, controls what enters and exits, and supports cell shape and communication. Membrane phospholipids are vital for maintaining cell integrity and facilitating interactions with the environment.
