Melting
Melting is the process where a solid substance changes into a liquid when heat is applied. At the atomic level, heating increases the energy of the particles, causing them to vibrate more until they can break free from their fixed positions. This transition occurs at a specific temperature called the melting point. For example, ice melts into water at 0°C. Melting is a physical change, meaning the substance remains the same chemically, but its form changes from solid to liquid due to increased energy overcoming the forces holding particles together.
