Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board
The Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB) was a government organization established in 1919 that managed Melbourne's tram network. It was responsible for operating, expanding, and maintaining trams across the city and surrounding suburbs. The board aimed to provide efficient, accessible public transportation and integrated tram services with other transport modes. It played a key role in modernizing Melbourne’s tram system until it was replaced by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Authority (MMTA) in 1983, which continued to develop the tram network.
