Megaptera novaeangliae

Megaptera novaeangliae, commonly known as the humpback whale, is a large marine mammal recognized for its impressive size and melodic songs. They can grow up to 60 feet long and weigh around 40 tons. Found in oceans worldwide, humpbacks migrate thousands of miles annually between feeding and breeding grounds. They are known for their acrobatic behaviors such as breaching and their complex vocalizations used for communication and mating. These whales primarily feed on small fish and krill, using unique techniques like bubble net feeding. They are an important part of marine ecosystems and are currently protected from hunting.
