Megafauna extinction
Megafauna extinction refers to the disappearance of large animals—like mammoths, giant sloths, and saber-toothed cats—mainly at the end of the last Ice Age around 10,000 years ago. This decline was caused by a combination of climate change, which altered habitats, and human activities such as hunting and habitat disturbance. As the climate warmed and humans spread, many of these big animals couldn't adapt quickly enough or faced overhunting, leading to their extinction. These events significantly impacted ecosystems, reducing biodiversity and changing the natural balance.
