Medium Earth Orbit (MEO)

Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) refers to an orbital range approximately 2,000 to 35,786 kilometers (1,243 to 22,236 miles) above Earth's surface. Satellites in MEO balance coverage and signal delay, making them ideal for navigation systems like GPS, which require a stable, reliable orbit that is higher than low Earth orbit (LEO) but lower than geostationary orbit. MEO satellites circle the Earth faster than those in higher orbits but are less affected by atmospheric drag, providing better coverage and accuracy for global positioning and communications.
