Mediterranean Campaigns
The Mediterranean Campaign during World War II was a series of military operations aimed at controlling key regions around the Mediterranean Sea, including North Africa, Italy, and surrounding islands. It involved the Allied powers (like Britain and later the United States) fighting Axis forces (Germany and Italy) to secure vital shipping routes, disrupt enemy supply lines, and gain access to strategic territories. Success in this campaign helped the Allies to open a second front in Europe, weaken Axis defenses, and eventually led to the invasion of Italy and the downfall of Axis presence in North Africa.
