Meditation Postures
Meditation postures are positions adopted to promote comfort and focus during practice. Common postures include sitting comfortably with a straight spine, either cross-legged on the floor, on a cushion, or in a chair, ensuring stability without tension. Hands can rest on the lap or knees, often in specific mudras (gestures). The head and neck are aligned naturally, and eyes are typically closed or softly focused. These postures help maintain alertness and promote relaxation, creating a conducive environment for concentration and mindfulness. The key is to find a position that supports sustained attention without discomfort.
