Medieval synods

Medieval synods were meetings of church leaders, primarily bishops and other clergy, to discuss and decide on important religious and doctrinal issues. Held locally or regionally, these gatherings addressed matters like heresy, church discipline, and theological questions, often influencing the wider church and society.
