Medieval Cosmography

Medieval cosmography is the study and description of the universe as understood during the Middle Ages. It combined religious beliefs, philosophy, and emerging scientific ideas to map the world and cosmos. Medieval scholars tried to explain Earth's place in the universe, often imagining a universe centered around Earth with celestial bodies moving in perfect spheres. These maps and descriptions reflected a worldview blending theological ideas with the observational knowledge available at the time.
