Medicare coverage guidelines

Medicare is a federal program that provides health coverage mainly for people age 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities. It has different parts: Part A covers hospital stays and inpatient care; Part B covers doctor visits and outpatient services; Part D offers prescription drug coverage; and Part C (Medicare Advantage) offers an all-in-one plan through private insurers. Coverage guidelines specify which services are paid for, often requiring deductibles, copayments, or prior authorization. Eligibility depends on age, work history, or disability status, with rules regarding what treatments and medications are covered under each part.
