Medical Sonography

Medical sonography, also known as ultrasound imaging, uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the inside of the body. A technician, called a sonographer, applies a gel to the skin and expertly guides a device called a transducer over the area of interest. The sound waves bounce off tissues and organs, then return to produce images that help doctors diagnose and monitor medical conditions. Sonography is safe, non-invasive, and commonly used for pregnancy scans, as well as examining the abdomen, pelvis, heart, and blood vessels.
