Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP)
A Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) is a collaborative approach where healthcare providers and legal professionals work together to address patients’ social, legal, and health-related needs. When a patient faces issues like housing problems, insurance disputes, or access to public benefits, legal experts assist in resolving these challenges directly through the healthcare setting. This integrated effort aims to improve overall health outcomes by ensuring that legal barriers do not hinder medical treatment or well-being. MLPs help patients access resources and rights they might not be aware of or able to navigate on their own.
