Mediation and Arbitration in HOAs
Mediation and arbitration are alternative dispute resolution methods often used in Homeowners' Associations (HOAs) to resolve conflicts without going to court. Mediation involves a neutral third party who helps the involved parties communicate and find a mutually agreeable solution. It’s more collaborative and doesn’t impose decisions. Arbitration, on the other hand, is more formal. An arbitrator hears both sides and makes a binding decision that the parties must follow. Both processes aim to resolve disputes efficiently while saving time and costs compared to traditional litigation.
