Medial Meniscus

The medial meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage located inside the knee joint, on the inner side between the thighbone (femur) and shinbone (tibia). It acts as a shock absorber, helping to cushion the joint and distribute weight evenly during movement. It also stabilizes the knee and aids in smooth motion. The medial meniscus can be injured through twisting or excessive pressure, leading to pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the knee. Treatment varies from rest and physical therapy to surgical repair, depending on the severity of the injury.
