Med-Arb

Med-Arb, short for mediation-arbitration, is a hybrid conflict resolution process where a neutral third party first facilitates a discussion (mediation) to help parties reach an agreement. If they cannot resolve their dispute, the same person then acts as an arbitrator, making a binding decision to settle the issue. This approach combines the collaborative nature of mediation with the decisiveness of arbitration, allowing parties to explore solutions together while ensuring that, if needed, a final decision will be made. It is often used in labor disputes, commercial disagreements, and family law cases.
