Mechano-transduction
Mechano-transduction is the biological process by which cells sense and respond to mechanical forces or changes in their environment. When force is applied—like stretching, compression, or pressure—certain structures inside cells, such as specialized proteins and receptors, detect these changes. This detection triggers a series of signals that help the cell adapt, grow, or repair itself. Essentially, mechano-transduction allows cells to convert physical stimuli into chemical signals, enabling them to interact intelligently with their surroundings, maintain tissue health, and respond to mechanical stresses effectively.
