Mechanical Turk

Amazon Mechanical Turk is an online platform that connects businesses and researchers with a large workforce of people willing to complete small, simple tasks for pay. These tasks, called "Human Intelligence Tasks" or HITs, can include data entry, image labeling, transcription, or surveys. Rather than hiring full-time employees, organizations use Mechanical Turk to quickly and cost-effectively gather human input for tasks that require judgment or perception. Workers, or "Turkers," perform these tasks remotely and earn money per task completed. It leverages human intelligence at scale for tasks computers find challenging.
