Measles Virus
Measles virus is a highly contagious virus that causes measles, a serious infectious disease characterized by symptoms like fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive rash. It spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The virus enters the body via the respiratory tract and attacks the immune system, making individuals vulnerable to other infections. Vaccination with the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is the most effective way to prevent infection. While often preventable, measles can cause severe complications, including pneumonia, brain inflammation, and death, especially in young children and immunocompromised individuals.
