ME/CFS Research

ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) research aims to understand the complex, long-lasting illness characterized by extreme fatigue and other symptoms. Scientists explore potential causes such as immune system abnormalities, infections, or metabolic issues. They study how the body’s energy production and nervous system function differently in patients. Research also looks at biomarkers—biological indicators—that could help diagnose the condition more accurately. While much remains unknown, ongoing studies are critical for developing better diagnostics, treatments, and ultimately understanding the root causes of ME/CFS to improve patient outcomes.
