McNaughten Rule

The McNaughten Rule is a legal standard used to determine if someone can be held responsible for a crime. It asks whether, at the time of the offense, the person was unable to understand the nature of their actions or recognize that what they were doing was wrong due to a mental illness. If they did not understand or recognize their actions as wrong, they may be considered not guilty by reason of insanity.
