McNary Dam
McNary Dam is a large hydroelectric dam on the Columbia River, located on the border between Oregon and Washington. Completed in 1958, it generates electricity by harnessing the river's flowing water. The dam also helps control flooding, improve navigation along the river, and provide irrigation water for agriculture. Its structure includes a series of turbines that convert water movement into electrical power, making it a vital part of the regional energy supply. Additionally, fish ladders are incorporated to help salmon and other fish migrate past the dam, supporting local ecosystems and fisheries.
