McLuhan's tetrad
McLuhan’s tetrad is a tool for analyzing how new technologies influence society. It involves asking four questions: 1. What does the technology enhance or amplify? 2. What does it make obsolete or reduce? 3. What might it bring back in a new form? 4. What false impressions or illusions might it create? This helps us see the impacts of innovations—how they shape perceptions, behaviors, and culture—by viewing their effects from multiple angles, encouraging thoughtful understanding of technological change.
