McCain-Feingold Act

The McCain-Feingold Act, officially called the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, aimed to limit the influence of money in political campaigns. It banned large contributions to national political parties and restricted the use of "soft money"—funds not directly donated to candidates but used for party activities. The law also banned certain types of advertising close to elections to prevent undue influence. Its goal was to make elections more transparent and reduce the impact of big money, though some parts of the law have faced legal challenges and changes over time.
